Testimony of a former Stairite

I guess I just have to jump right into this.  When half the people left the Farm in Walterboro, SC in 2001, they were operating under the belief that Brother R.G. Stair had not really repented.  After his “confession” to sin (actually damage control), Stair felt the need to do more damage control which is not a fruit of true repentance (2 Cor 7:11).  Some of us couldn’t see that though.

Then in the first half of 2005, after Brother Stair’s exposure in the use of pornography, it was apparent to more people that he had not repented.  We looked for the fruit of repentance for four years and it was lacking.  So we left.

As of now in the middle of 2009, reports have come in for these last few years of continual attempts and successes by the old man Stair to go astray.  But the people remaining in Walterboro are stubborn and must lay down (through fear) the word of God to know a prophet by his fruit (Matt 7:20) and take up their own idea to know a prophet by some spiritual “witness” they think they have.  The witness of God is greater than the witness of men.  The witness of God is His word.

Jesus asked, Whom do men say that I am?  Several answers were given, answers that people from their hearts surely believed.  They all had some kind of “witness”.  Then Peter answered with the witness that he had that Jesus is the Son of the living God.  Even though he was right, his witness had to be verified by the Word of God (Jesus).

If anybody in Walterboro could read this now, I would urge them to not be afraid to take up the simple word of God to know a prophet by his fruit (Matt 7:15-16).  Not to be afraid to read and believe verses like Deuteronomy 18:22 – When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Or Deuteronomy 13:1-3 – If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Or 2 Timothy 3:1-7 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;   Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Or 2 Peter 2:13-15 – And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time.  Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:  Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness.

Not to be afraid to take a stand against evil.  Nobody is above the Word of God.  There is no special dispensation of grace for one man in the church to commit atrocious acts.  Because judgment is not executed speedily, the hearts of the sons of men are fully set to do evil.  There’s your so-called special dispensation…  [Editor: Thus we see the attitude of Brother Stair in waxing worse and worse.  Is this because the delay of the justice system to bring him to terms with his sins?]

2 Timothy 2:20-22
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, [if} and prepared unto every good work [if].  Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
