The Wide Road

In his heyday Brother Stair preached a narrow road, so narrow few could walk it.  Many who followed him moved to his Overcomer Farm in SC to live that narrow life.  Or so we thought.  In 2001 we found that Bro Stair had lied about being without sin when he was caught in adultery with several sisters.

Shortly before his death, after decades of openly walking in gross sexual sin, he proclaimed that the LORD made the path wide so we could all get in.  This was the only way Bro Stair was going to get in (Pr 30:6, 12).  But it wasn’t God’s way in.  God hasn’t changed just because Bro Stair refused to repent.  God’s way is still the narrow way.

This is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, And says, “I have done no wrong.”  But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of Hell (Pr 30:20, 12-14, 9:18).

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.  Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.  By their fruit you will recognize them.  Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name… Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!’ (Matt 7:13-16, 22-23  NIV).
