“I guess the only way we’re gonna get a change of face is if you get a change of face up here“
Therein is always been the problem – no change in Brother Stair’s face yet expecting his congregation to do all the changing. The second problem is that even though he said it this once he doesn’t mean it nor did he make the change in his face. That improvement he wants to see is the same as the congregation has been looking for and waiting for, for decades.
Brother Stair seems to find it necessary to speak on why we keep the Feast Day – now that he’s a week into keeping them. Says that the next one to come is Passover. Forgetting that the next is on September 27th – Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year. Then there’s Tabernacles (Sukkot) on Oct 2-9, and the Last Great Day of the Feast (Jn 7:37-39). Which was important enough for Jesus to attend – but not the Overcomers. Then there’s Purim in February. So technically, Passover is eight feasts away.
“There’s never been a man, not even Jesus, not even Paul, who has preached as much as this Last Day Prophet has preached.” [The Heresy begins]
Finds it necessary to brag on himself “this man is right in everything” then spins that we are one. Professing himself to be wise… (Pr 1:22). But you try and brag on yourself and see if he thinks that he’s sharing in it because we are one. He keeps wants them to be impressed with him, with the stories of his greatness.
“No man taketh this honor unto himself but, BUT. He that is called of God. I’m the last day prophet of God.”
“Boy, you people aren’t gonna do it are you? God Damn this house!“
“Paul had a gospel that Jesus didn’t even know about.” [This is not only heresy, but this is also blasphemy. Brother Stair says this to justify himself preaching another gospel – for which Paul said Bro Stair is cursed for perverting the gospel of Christ (Gal 1:7). Paul preached the gospel of God, the gospel of Christ, the gospel of the Kingdom,… Paul said there is but One gospel (Gal 1:8-9) and that is the same Eternal Gospel (Rev 14:6) that has been from the beginning and will always be.]
“We’re gonna lose the ship, and we have. Where are the shipmates?“ [They fled]
“How many of you are close to the ground about dead?” [Too many, this is what this preaching produces – death. The ministry of death (2Cor 3:7).]
“How does this apply to preaching?” [Exactly!]
“This is the last one. It’s the Last Feast.” [No, This is the First Feast, this Feast marks the Begining of the year. This isn’t even the last of the Fall Feasts.]
“I don’t need your money to stay on the air. No I don’t. No I don’t. No I don’t.” [But he’ll get on you for keeping it back.]
“I’m guilty of those charges.”
Bro Stair shows us a small example of how he spreads slander and ill will against brothers in his talking to Bro Patterson about Bro Mark trying to talk to Ruth (Pr 6:12-14, 16-19). There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him [admination]: and a person who stirs up conflict in the community (Pr 6:16, 19 NIV).
“I preach the Law, just not the Law of Moses. I’m a Law keeper.” [What Bro Stair does is preach/teach for doctrine the commandments of men (his commands of God) (Mt 15:9).]
“Aren’t you ashamed?” [It’s not like we have an example of being ashamed]
“If I was God I’d slap you down so hard.”
Phone calls from Bro Best and Rufas – which Bro Stair doesn’t want calling yet are faithful followers – show the type of people that remain listening to him. He seems to only retain the ‘crazies’. Familiar spirits.
“You do what I tell you or you’re gonna be Damned!”
Brother Stair talks about how his former wife Teresa charged him with trying to kill her. He had to appear before a judge and he was afraid. Sounds like he knew he was guilty and was going to jail. Yet the way he tells it, it was nothing.
Bro Stair brings out some heretical doctrine of how restoration is hard and the only way people like Bro Best and Rufus are going to be saved is by God killing them. Dying in the faith. How is God killing them make them dying in the faith? How does God killing them restore them to the faith? Since they would still not have done what Bro Stair told them – which makes them damned – how are they then going to be saved?
Is this a doctrine of confusion? Yes but more importantly, this is the Catholic doctrine that was used to justify torturing and burning heretics – to save their soul.
After listening to this, you should ask yourself the obvious question that has escaped you. What scriptural or spiritual teaching or encouragement did Brother Stair bring forth tonight to build up the Body? He ended by saying he was going to talk more about Feast Days – since he didn’t even finish that single topic that he started with.
